黄正能教授，美国华盛顿大学平生教授，华盛顿大学电子工程系主管科研副系主任，华盛顿大学信息处置尝试室主任，美国电气和电子工程师学会院士（IEEE Fellow） 。IEEE T-NN、IEEE T-IP、IEEE T-SP、IEEE T-CSVT、IEEE SPM、ETRI、JSPS等国际驰名期刊副主编 。重要钻研方向：多媒体信号处置、多媒体网络、模式鉴别和图像/视觉分析 。在多媒体信号处置和多媒体系统集成和网络颁发了约74篇学术期刊，174篇同业评审会讨论文，14本专著出版 。
讲座提要：
After being a professor for more than 24 years in the University of Washington, I have greatly enjoyed my academic career and fortunately graduated more than 27 Ph.D. students and 40 M.S. students. Even though there is no golden rules on successful academic research or academic career endeavors, I do have some personal observations on making this process a much more enjoyable and effective path. More specifically, I will share with you some important features to ensure fruitful academic research, getting ready and jumping into research, persistence in research, and paper publication. Then followed by some useful tips for academic career building, such as how to survive as a junior faculty, getting involved in the professional community, creating impact and shifting research direction, etc. This talk is intended for most graduate students or junior faculty for their seeking of useful experience toward their objectives.
